See our FacebookOur friends from Mead Vale Community Primary School and Milton Park Primary School joined us for the author talk so we had a BIG audience of keen readers and many, many, many books for P.G. Bell to sign. It was so lovely to see the excitement on the children’s faces as they had their book signed.
After a mammoth signing session, P.G. Bell was interviewed by our Year 5 and 6 Reading Champions - they had thought so carefully about their questions. We will share the interview write up soon.

We have discovered that humming birds will eat spiders 🕷️ and drink nectar 🌺 We have also discovered that the hum they make is the sound of their wings because they beat SO quickly.

Ashbury Blinds and Curtains have generously donated 6 prize bundles - 1 for each of our top 3 spellers in Year 3/4 and Year 5/6.
Weston-super-Mare AFC have donated a family match day prize.
Hutton Moor Leisure Centre have donated some Extreme Air passes.
We have some cinema tickets from merlin cinemas, some unlimited ride passes from the The Grand Pier and Noah's Ark Animal Sanctuary have offered an incredible visit and meet and greet bundle.

You came through with the 300 tyres AND a digger so we have really high expectations for our latest random request.
We are looking for a large hamper. Large enough to fit a couple of children inside, like the hamper in the picture below. This will be used in our foyer.

School Council shared some of the things they like the most about Mendip Green:
- OPAL Play
- their learning
- teachers
- friends
- author visits
And, then grilled school leaders on what they would like to see change:
- more play equipment: we could share that we are bidding for some funds for some additional spinning bars and other equipment, the sandpit will be open in the spring and the PTA are continuing to support with developing play provision 🏖️
- more graphic novels and comics in the library: we are using our PTA library funds to stock up this VERY popular section of the library 📕 💥
- shelter outside: Mr O shared that we are looking at small sheltered spaces that could be added to the grounds. There was then a looooong conversation about the costs of shelters! 💰 💰 💰
- Taco Tuesday: this suggestion has already been passed on to the ELAN catering team 🌮
- more playtime: Miss Walton explained about curriculum time and recommended amounts of daily play as well as the minimum length of the school day. The children were not keen on having to stay later in school so they could have a longer playtime and still squeeze in all their learning 😂 We also shared that they now get longer outside as they are choosing when to eat and not having to queue.
