See our FacebookAfter more than 23 years at Mendip Green, Miss Derrick hung up her apron for the final time this week. During her time at the school, she’s been a cleaner, worked in the kitchen, supported breakfast club and worked as a lunchtime supervisor - often described as the glue that holds it all together 🫶
We would normally mark a retirement like this at our end of year assembly but we simply couldn’t let her last day pass without acknowledgment. On her final lunchtime, Joy was called in to the office to complete some ‘paperwork’, whilst the rest of the school planned a big surprise for when she returned to the playground….
Every school needs a Joy, and we’re certainly going to miss ours. Go well, Miss Derrick - wishing you a long and happy retirement ❤️ 🌳

The Colour Run registration opens from midday (at some point, somewhere the time of 11am has been shared).

Reminders for those joining us for the colour run tomorrow:
- registration opens at midday
- the run will start between 12:45 and 1pm
- remember to wear a white T-shirt/top
- all runners must wear eye protection

What do Mouse and Hamish the GOLDEN cow have in common?
Two things…
- They both have bottom problems
- They share the sam nemesis: the infamous Mr Carroll.
Mouse’s bottom problems have been resolved with a quick visit to the V.E.T and a rather undignified bottom shave.
Hamish’s bottom problems are more permanent! Mr Carroll has just fessed up to dropping poor Hamish. As the reigning Cattle Commander, we are very disappointed that his time in office has been blighted by this crime!
Hamish is the Hunt the Herd trophy.
It appears that Next no longer make a GOLDEN Hamish so we are very sad 😢
Does anyone know where we can get a GOLDEN Hamish OR know the CEO of Next who can get us a GOLDEN Hamish from source OR have a GOLDEN Hamish that they would like to rehome.

We think it fair to say that neither Mouse nor Hamish will be joining the Mr Carroll fan club any time soon.

During April, we recognised World Autism Acceptance Month. Through assemblies and activities in class, we reflected on EVERYBODY in our school being unique and different. We spoke about what we like and dislike, what we find easy and what might be a challenge. We spoke about everyone being important, beautiful and special and, like a rock band, we need different types of people with different skills if we want to make the best music.

One of them thinks they are going to NAIL this new role - be prepared to meet the BEST office temp ever!
The other is very aware that this new responsibility is going to impact on their normal schedule of napping, getting tummy tickles and walkies. The have already lodged a formal complaint.

Luckily, the ice cream vans will be visiting Mendip Green tomorrow (Friday). During the afternoon, all of the Year 6 children will have an ice cream as a gift from the PTA.
After school, the ice cream vans will be on the playground so you can purchase an ice cream, if you wish. You will be able to pay by cash or card.
