EYFS were so lucky to have a very special visitor this week to talk to us about toys from the past. Mrs Hooper brought in toys from her childhood and spoke to us about how different they are compared to today's toys. We had a fab time exploring new and old!
Our Year 1 classes have been exploring weight and mass. We used balance scales to compare different objects.
In Year 2, we have been learning about the Easter story. We have drawn and coloured the parts of the Easter story and then we had some hot cross buns.
Year 3 have been working hard on adding money. They have had to use their knowledge of how many pennies in a pound to make appropriate conversions.
Year 4 have loved learning about tectonic plates in this unit's geography of Earthquakes. They made fantastic links with their previous learning about volcanos when talking about the structure of the Earth.
Year 5 have been exploring their text, Everest. They have been summarising key parts of the text ready to present them to the class.
During science this week, Year 6 have been looking at inherited characteristics. They have used Mr Men and Little Miss characters to show their understanding of how genetics can be passed down through generations.

We will be opening our sandpit to the children next week and we are SO excited! 🤩
The Dream Team even leveled and laid turf over the muddy patch where the sand bags had been and the lorry had left some rather large holes and gullies. Our field is in one piece again.
We will be ordering more sand as soon as PTA funds allow so we can fill the last bit of the sandpit. But, for now, you will find us chilling out and enjoying 3/4 of it 😎
The younger members of the work crew have tested out the sandpit already and think it is awesome… just rather sandy!

This is 100% more about than we had yesterday but we would still like to fill it all.

Every penny will help us fill the sand pit so we can live out our full beachy dreams next term.

On Tuesday, 3 generations of one of our Mendip Green PTA families came to school armed with shovels, pick axes and a wheelbarrow. The banks of the sandpit were cleared and smoothed. For a small team, they whizzed through it in no time.
We had a delivery of top soil arrive Wednesday ready for laying turf next week.
On Monday, our little sandpit dream team will be returning (and joined by a few more willing recruits). We will be laying the topsoil and turf to create banks smoother than any you would find in Teletubby Land!
Mrs Barnes has been pulling strings and has arranged for someone to come and lift the giant sand bags into the sandpit which will save us many, many wheelbarrow loads!
Next term, our sandpit dreams will be a reality. We are very excited!! 😆
