Welcome toMendip Green Primary School
At the heart of everything we do is a deep commitment to ensuring every child feels happy, loved, and truly seen. We believe everyone deserves an extraordinary childhood, and school plays a vital role in shaping those precious years. Our curriculum is designed not only to prepare children for the next stage in their learning journey, but also to nurture their curiosity, creativity, and personal growth through rich and varied experiences.

See our FacebookWe wanted to do a special shout out to this absolute legend. She walked 26 miles over the holiday, trekking up and down the sea front, marching around Uphill and getting steps in wherever she could.
Through her efforts, she raised Β£327, totally smashing the class fundraising target all on her own.
What dedication!
It turns out she does not even like donuts, which was the class prize, but was very happy to earn them for all of her classmates. So, as she is clearly a TOP BANANA, we declare DOUBLE PUDDING for a week!

We think it is fair to say that they are a little bit excited about their victory and not at all smug π π€©

Here are a few things we have been up to at Mendip Green this weekβ¦
EYFS have been developing their teen numbers and remembering that they are made up of 10 and more.
Our Year 1 children have done some fabulous independent writing this week. They wrote about what bees look like and what they eat. We then looked back at the start of their writing books and celebrated the wonderful progress they have made this year. We are so proud of them all!
Year 2 have been learning about Scratch in their computing lessons. This week the children have been making different algorithms.
Year 3 enjoyed their vegetable taste testing session in DT. They tasted cucumber, butternut squash, peppers, cauliflower, green beans and carrots. They will now think about what they want to include in their seasonal vegetable dish.
Year 4 have been loving their ukulele sessions. They have learnt chords C, F and G7. The singing and strumming have been Glastonbury worthy!
Year 5 complete spaced practice (morning maths) every day when they come into school. It is all based on previous learning and we mark as a class.
To see what Year 6 have been up to this week, check out our camp and staycation posts.
A BIG SHOUT OUT: to all of the staff who worked so hard this week to ensure the Y6 Camp and Staycation children had the best time. These memories will last a lifetime β€οΈ

Weβve had a couple of queries about Year 5/6 sports day tomorrow, given the amber warning in place during the day.
The Met Office are advising to limit time outside between 11-3.
Our plan is to continue with a 0930 start but we will shorten the activities so that we are finished well before 11am. We will ensure that the children will have access to shade under the trees during the event and ask that families ensure children arrive at school with a full water bottle and covered in suncream.
We will keep arrangements under review and will remove further events, should we need to. As tomorrow is the reserve date, and we will not be able to find a new date before the end of the school year, we are anxious to provide every chance of the event going ahead, but maintaining safety remains our priority
