Star Readers

Dear parents/carers,
Star Readers
We are launching a new reading incentive this year called Star Readers! Every child will have the opportunity to be in with a chance of becoming Star Reader of the Term in their year group.
To be in with a chance of being Star Reader, your child must:
- Read five times a week
- Record this reading in their reading record
- Have an adult sign to say that they have witnessed the child reading
- Bring their reading record in for their teacher to check
If your child’s class teacher can see that your child has read five times in one week and this has been signed by an adult, they will receive one raffle ticket. Each week the children can earn a raffle ticket for consistently reading five times a week. This could mean that in a six-week term, your child could have six raffle tickets in the draw.
At the end of each term, all three classes within the year group will combine their raffle tickets for the term. One child per year group will be randomly selected and the child whose raffle ticket gets selected will be the Star Reader for that year group. Each year group will then have a Star Reader meaning that there will be seven per term.
When your child has been selected as a star reader, they will:
- Have a sweet treat with Mrs Berry
- Be able to select one book of their choice online with Mrs Berry. This will then be ordered and is then their book to keep!
- Receive a Star Reader certificate
- Receive a Star Reader badge
We will be starting the new Star Reader incentive this term and will be announcing our first set of Star Readers at the end of term one.
